We are a group of local writers whose goal is to help fellow writers…and to be a writer, the only thing you need to do is write!
Our members reside all throughout the Crow River area, with Hutchinson, Minnesota being our main meeting location. We usually hold meetings, write-ins, and special events at the Hutchinson Public Library. Check out our “Upcoming” page to find out when our next event is or to find out more information about our monthly meeting on the first Wednesday of each month.
All writers are welcome!
From fiction to non-fiction, blogs to novels, fan fiction to memoirs, we encourage our members to write what they are interested in. All levels of experience are welcome as well. Our goal is to have a diverse group of people coming together to talk about writing so we can learn from each other.
We welcome all skill levels and writing styles! We are not here to judge we are here to help.
Every November our group takes part in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo.org) where it is your self=imposed goal to write 50,000 words in a 30 day period. Most of our members try but do not always make the goal. No one fails, as long as you write more words than you started with then you are always a winner.
Christopher T. Guthrie
Author, Photographer, and Filmmaker. He grew up in Anoka, Minnesota. Christopher started writing at a young age and remembers writing what now is called fan fiction, when he was in fifth grade. By high school he got interested in science fiction and started to learn the craft of writing. However, he was discouraged from writing because of his supposed lack of literary prowess. He was given a choice either the military or a trade school. He initially chose the latter and went on to become a culinary chef and a prolific photographer. After college, he joined the Air Force as Photographer for the 934th Airlift Wing located in Minneapolis, Minnesota while continuing to writing short stories, screen plays, and a novel.
In 2007, he created his own production company called Quaden Productions LLC and finished his first screen play. While working on the film in 2014, Christopher was diagnosed stage four cancer (Non-Hodgkins lymphoma) and needed to put his life on hold as he underwent chemotherapy. Now well into recovery, Christopher now offers summer photography and filmmaking workshops at various resorts around the country. (www.quadenproductions.com)
He now resides on a family farm in Hutchinson, Minnesota and in his spare time, he is a woodworker for Great Northern Woodworking LLC and also a founding member of the Crow River Quill & Ink Society. He lives with his step daughter Emily, their dog Ravyn Storm, and their cats, Pouncer, Brave, and Meeka.
